Clean a Bamboo Cutting Board

Steps
Step 1: Remove food debris
- Scrape loose food and residue into the bin or compost.
Check: The board has no visible chunks of food left on its surface.
Step 2: Hand-wash the board
- Wet the board briefly with warm water.
- Apply a small amount of dish soap and scrub both sides with a soft sponge or dishcloth.
- Do not leave the board submerged or soaking.
Check: All visible residue has been removed. · The board has not been left sitting in water.
Step 3: Rinse and dry immediately
- Rinse the board briefly with clean water.
- Wipe it completely dry with a clean towel.
- Stand it upright or on its edge so air can reach both sides while it finishes drying.
Check: No standing water remains on the board. · Both sides can air-dry evenly.
Step 4: Condition the bamboo occasionally
- When the board looks dry or feels rough, apply a thin, even coat of food-safe mineral oil or board conditioner.
- Let the oil absorb according to the product instructions, then wipe away excess oil.
Check: The surface looks evenly conditioned rather than greasy. · The board is fully dry before storing or using it.
